Applications for US unemployment benefits drop 13,000
WASHINGTON (AP) — The number of Americans filing applications for unemployment benefits fell for the first time in three weeks, pushing total applications down to a low 239,000, further evidence of the strength of the labor market.
The fastest-growing jobs in America pay about $22,000 per year
With 1.2 million more jobs predicted for home health and personal care aides, the two positions will eclipse the eight other most rapidly growing fields combined.
State jobless rate drops to 4.4 percent
The October analysis shows the state’s unemployment fell a tenth of a percentage point, compared to September’s 4.5 percent. A year ago, the state’s unemployment rate was 4.9 percent.
